A guest post from Vinay Gupta of Buttered Side Down, who’s helping organise a week-long camp in the run up to UNCIVILISATION. The camp will be free – but you’ll need festival tickets to stay for the weekend, which you can get here.
Dark Mountain Camp is a chance to spend a week meeting and talking to the people who are most interested in Dark Mountain and the future it presents. There’s never enough time to have all the conversations you want to have, and the Festival will seem all too brief!
So we’re having a pre-festival gathering to put our heads together, with an emphasis on sharing skills, ideas and practical wisdom. I’d hope to learn about the practical business of waste-fuel biodiesel, and come to understand the perspective of the Transition Towns movement better. You might come wanting to learn how to grow a simple organic garden, and build a hexayurt. Think of it as a time to meet, learn and teach before the festival begins in earnest.
I’ll be bringing hexayurts and talking about new options for long term global sustainability, and there’ll be at least one day of Institute for Collapsonomics events.
We’re not going to have a central hub organizing this – rather we’ll work online, have people offer what they want to offer, indicate what they would like to learn, and together we’ll make a splendid pre-festival week happen. Come along if you can!
